5 Ways Changing Your Mindset Can Improve Your Life

You might hear the phrases like “let go of limiting beliefs” and “change your mindset” buzzing around the internet lately - but what does that really mean?

While you probably don’t constantly think about how your mindset affects your life, it constantly impacts thoughts, feelings, and decisions throughout your entire day.

Abundance mindset, scarcity mindset, fear mindset, fixed mindset, growth mindset, confident mindset, and many others are all different types of mindsets we have. Each unconscious and conscious belief affects our lives every moment.

According to Carol Dweck, Stanford research psychologist and author of the book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success states, “the power of our beliefs, both conscious and unconscious, and how changing even the simplest of them can have a profound impact on nearly every aspect of our lives”.

Wanted to start having a bigger impact in living the life you want? Here are 5 ways you can change your mindset to an abundance or growth mindset and improve your life.

1. You’re willing to step out of your comfort zone and take a risk

Like not jumping off a cliff, but trying something that might feel a bit uncomfortable or new. Changing your mindset to one of growth allows you to see the many different paths available to you in whatever you are looking to change. Whether it’s moving up in your job, a new hobby or sport, or something more personal. Thinking this way allows you to move forward rather than being stuck in the same place.

2. You see there are plenty of resources to go around for everyone. Even though there will be competition you will see opportunities (rather than scarcity) in every aspect of your life. There is always more than one option to reach your desired goal or outcome.

3. You aren’t afraid of being a part of a team and participating in group situations.

You become comfortable sharing ideas without feeling threatened or intimidated, which leads to better choices, environments, and relationships. Collaboration over competition every time!

4. A growth mindset helps you build better relationships. You realize people will always have differences - and that's OK! You are open to more than one way of thinking. You learn that a relationship involves learning about and from each other, you grow together and develop skills to work well together. As I like to say “Together we are stronger!”

5. You start accepting constructive criticism for what it is (which is a different opinion - not a personal attack) and using it to grow. The growth mindset helps you be more confident because you won’t need outside validation to feel competent. As well as you are open to learning new and different ways to see things.

So ultimately, when you change your mindset you can become more creative, more artistic, more intelligent, more successful, more athletic, and more fulfilled. Your skills at thinking differently can be cultivated, learned, practiced, and grown.

You no longer carry the same stress about what will happen.

And it will improve your life.
